HENDERSON, Nev. (Feb. 8, 2024) – The Henderson Fire Department is now hiring for Paramedic Ambulance Operators – the only fire agency in Southern Nevada to offer this role. Recruitment is open until March 11.
 
Paramedic Ambulance Operators (PAO) are specialized, non-fire suppression positions within the fire department dedicated to providing advanced life support for all medical and fire-related calls involving patient treatment. 
  
The PAO position amplifies HFD’s goal of having excellent response times to critical emergency incidents. Since implementing the position in 2022, HFD has experienced a decrease in response times and has allowed more units to be in service for emergencies – an important factor as the City continues to grow.

Paramedic Ambulance Operator is a union-represented position. Applicants who complete the HFD Paramedic Academy and internship will receive a robust benefits package and be part of the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).
 
Paramedic Ambulance Operators work four 9.5-hour shifts with units in service every day between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m.
