Chief Shawn White was selected as the 11th city of Henderson Fire Chief in September 2017. He started with the city in July 1999 as a firefighter/paramedic, advancing to captain, battalion chief and deputy chief. Committed to providing exceptional emergency response and mitigation, Chief White has provided central leadership in the development of outstanding operational systems and curriculum for the Henderson Fire Department. These programs have influenced many other departments in the region. Respected as a committed expert to the mission of the fire service, Chief White remains focused on protecting the lives and relationships of the citizens of Henderson.

While serving as the Fire Chief the Henderson Fire Department earned an ISO Class 1 Classification.  This classification places HFD in the top 0.5% of fire departments in the nation.  The Henderson Fire Department is also accredited through the Commission on Fire Accreditation (CFAI) and the Commission of Ambulance Services (CAAS).

Chief White began his fire service career in 1989 for the Albuquerque Fire Department. He advanced through the ranks from firefighter/paramedic, to engineer, to lieutenant. He worked for Albuquerque Fire Department for 10 years prior to joining the Henderson Fire Department in 1999.

Shawn and his wife Kim have been married for 36 years and raised three daughters in the community. They currently enjoy time off with their five grandchildren.

Chief White holds a bachelor’s degree in fire science.
