Cybercrimes are on the rise. The City of Henderson encourages its residents to stay vigilant and aware when conducting business online.

Vishing

Vishing is voice phishing, and much like an email phishing attack, a cybercriminal is trying to get you to hand over sensitive information so they can use it to their advantage.

City of Henderson will never ask its residents or businesses to disclose personal information over the phone.

Knowing how these scams work can prevent you from becoming a victim.

  • Be wary of phone calls from unknown numbers—use your critical thinking to discern whether it may be a scam.
  • Stay calm and don’t panic—These criminals rely on the fact that your emotions will overrule your sensibility. Keep a cool head and hang up the phone.

We encourage everyone to be aware of scammers and fraudulent callers. If you have any concerns, contact us at 3-1-1 or 702-267-5000, option 2.

You can also report the scam to the Federal Trade Commission at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
