Applicants Making a Presentation to the Commission

The Commissioners and staff will have a complete packet of information on each project. If an applicant has any additional items they would like to present, they must submit these to Community Development as soon as possible before the meeting. If they are unable to submit exhibits prior to the meeting, they must bring 11 copies of the exhibit to the meeting for distribution. Exhibits no larger than 24" x 36" can be displayed on the document camera. A hard copy no larger than 11" x 17" will also be required for the public record.

Before the Meeting

The Council Chambers has open seating and applicants may sit anywhere in the audience section. Applicants may also wait in the lobby where they will be able to hear the meeting and view the exhibits on the monitors.

Please note that applicants or their representatives may ask for a continuance or withdrawal of their item on the agenda right up until the start of the meeting. For this reason, please arrive at the meeting early enough to allow for changes in the agenda.

During the Meeting

Staff will introduce each item on the agenda by name and application number(s). Staff will then present a brief overview of the application(s) and state their recommendation.

The Chair will ask the applicant to approach the podium and state their name and address for the record. The applicant briefly describes their project and states whether they agree or disagree with staff's recommendation. Applicants should speak clearly into the microphone so that their statements will become part of the official recorded minutes and so everyone can hear them.

The Chair will open the public hearing for discussion, asking if there is anyone from the general public wishing to speak on the item; see Speakers from the General Public for more information. After hearing testimony from all interested parties, the Chair will close the public hearing. Once the public hearing has been closed, no further comments from the public will be heard.

The applicant is then offered the opportunity to respond to the Commission's and the public's questions and/or concerns. Once all deliberation is complete, the Chair will request a motion, which will be followed by a vote of the Commissioners.

Preparing Presentations for the Meeting

Applicants may want to contact the Community Development Department at 702-267-1500 with any questions regarding agenda items. Having questions answered prior to the Planning Commission meeting may help in preparing the presentation. A copy of the staff report with backup material and the meeting agendas are available in the Community Development Department one week prior to the Planning Commission meeting or online from our Planning Commission Agendas page.

Handouts

If your presentation includes handouts, submit these to the Community Development Department as soon as possible before the meeting. This will allow the Planning Commission and staff to review the exhibits prior to the public hearing.

If you are unable to submit exhibits prior to the meeting, you must bring 11 copies of the exhibit to the meeting for distribution.

Special Presentations
