The Nevada Revised Statutes and the Henderson Development Code require that public hearing notices be sent out for Comprehensive Plan Amendments, Street Name Changes, Zone Changes, Use Permits, Variances, Vacations, and Waiver of Standards.

Public hearing notices are sent to make citizens aware of a proposed application in their neighborhood and the opportunity to voice their opinions. The public hearing notices are a yellow postcard that includes the following:

  • Application number(s)
  • Applicant name
  • Description
  • Location map
  • Date, time, and location of the public hearing
  • City of Henderson contact name

The card can be marked with an opinion and returned to Community Development via email, mail, or fax. Physically attending a public hearing is the most effective way to voice your support or opposition; however, attendance is not required.

A sign is posted on the subject property at least 10 days prior to the meeting. Notices of public hearings for Comprehensive Plan Amendments, Street Name Changes, Zone Changes, and Vacations are also published in the Las Vegas Review Journal at least 10 days prior to the Planning Commission meeting.
