What the Department of Utility Services Does to Prevent Scams

  • Staff wear City-issued uniforms with either the City of Henderson logo or seal
  • Staff display City-issued badges with the City seal
  • Staff drive City vehicles that may contain either the City of Henderson logo or seal
  • While we do take payments over the phone, the Customer Care Center does not call customers and demand credit card or bank account information, but will call to notify a customer about a past due balance.
  • The City logo and seal are shown below:

Reasons for Unscheduled On-site Visits

Occasionally you may see a City of Henderson Department of Utility Services employee at your property, but there is no need to be alarmed.

Reasons for unscheduled on-site visits:

  • Inconsistent water meter reading
  • Possible issue with water meter that could result in replacement
  • Test functionality of the water meter by using 1-2 gallons of water from the house hose (total cost is less than 10 cents)

Customers concerned about a potential scam should please call the Department of Utility Services Customer Care Center at 702-267-5900.

 Tips to Avoid Phone Scams

  • Be wary of ANY phone calls that are pressuring you for money, even if they come from the phone number of the organization. Many scams can make it look like the call is coming from the correct number.
  • Be cautious of anyone demanding or pressuring you to act or make payments immediately. Be especially wary of any payment requests for wire transfers or prepaid cards.
  • Don't fall for anything that seems too good to be true, such as free vacations, sweepstakes prizes and investment opportunities.
  • Be wary of anyone claiming to represent a company, organization or government agency that is offering to recover lost money for a fee.
When in doubt, hang up and call the organization or business directly to ensure you are speaking to someone from that organization.
