Please note, the options below are not available to persons with a Commercial Driver’s License. The practice of reducing charges, altering speeds, or allowing CDL drivers to attend Traffic Safety School is specifically prohibited by 49 CFR Part 384.226.

Demerit Point Reduction options are only valid for moving violations of 4 points or less. To determine the point value of your moving violation, please visit the Nevada DMV website. 

Demerit Point Reduction Fee

NRS 484A.790 allows for the imposition of a fee for the purpose of reducing demerit points in lieu of completing Traffic Safety School-Demerit Point Reduction Fee (DPR). The Demerit Point Reduction fee is $60 and is in addition to the total penalty/fine amount listed on your citation. 

Civil Infraction Citations-Requesting DPR

You may request the DPR fee prior to the 90-day response date listed on your citation by exercising one of these options:

Failure to pay the total penalty and the DPR fee by the response date will result in a record of conviction being forwarded to the licensing authority of this state.

Traffic Misdemeanor-Requesting DPR

You may request the DPR fee prior to the court date listed on your citation by exercising one of these options:

Failure to pay the total fine and the DPR fee by the court's due date will result in a record of conviction being forwarded to the licensing authority of this state.

Traffic Safety School

You may attend Level 1 Traffic Safety School if you have not attended Traffic Safety School in the last 12 months. You may attend Level 2 Repeat Offender’s Traffic Safety School if you have already attended Traffic Safety School once before in the last 12 months.

You are required to submit proof of Traffic Safety School completion to the Court by the due date. 

Civil Infraction Citations-Requesting Traffic School

You may request and complete the Traffic Safety School prior to the 90-day response date listed on your citation by exercising one of these options

Failure to pay the total penalty and submit proof of Traffic Safety School completion to the Court by the response date will result in a record of conviction being forwarded to the licensing authority of this state.

Traffic Misdemeanor-Requesting Traffic Safety School

You may enter a guilty or no contest plea and request Traffic Safety School prior to the court date listed on your citation by exercising one of these options:

Failure to pay the total fine amount and submit proof of Traffic Safety School completion by the Court’s due date will result in a record of conviction being forwarded to the licensing authority of this state.
