The Henderson Police Explorer Program is a volunteer educational program designed for young adults aged 16 to 21 with an avid interest in law enforcement. Explorers meet once a week, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Central Henderson Police Station located at 300 S. Green Valley Parkway for training sessions in law enforcement activities. Due to the extensive training the Explorers are given with the goal of preparing each student for a career in Law Enforcement, enrollment is open only twice per year.

The Henderson Police Explorer Program's mission is to offer young adults, a personal awareness of the criminal justice system through training, practical experiences, competition, and other activities. Additionally, the program promotes personal growth through character development, respect for the rule of law, physical fitness, good citizenship and patriotism.

What We Do

Explorers train in various aspects of Law Enforcement. Explorer Advisors teach young adult skills and tactics that will prepare them for a career in Law Enforcement. There are requirements to conduct community services and opportunities to assist with police related functions.

There are occasions when the Explorer Post will compete against other Explorer Posts in annual Explorer competitions. These are special events that require additional training and time requirements of the Explorers. These events are challenging and require hard work and dedication, but are very rewarding to the Explorers as individuals and as a team.
