Park & Picnic Reservations
Picnic areas (with a few exceptions) are available to all citizens on a first-come, first-served basis unless the area has been reserved through our reservation system. Individuals or groups may pay for a rental to reserve a specific picnic area. All reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance of the event. Henderson-based companies and residents may reserve picnic areas up to 180 days prior to the event.
Those who wish to use the park are not required to pay. However, should a party reserve that particular park area, those who have not paid the park rental will have to relocate.
Archery Open Range
Whitney Mesa Recreation Area
The range master facilitates safe archery target shooting through coordinated directions to groups wishing to practice their skills. Bring your own equipment (no broad tip arrows allowed) or rent it from us for $10 per hour or $20 per day.
Each participant or a parent/guardian must register and sign a waiver at Whitney Ranch Recreation Center before they are allowed to shoot. Upon your first visit, you must attend an orientation on range rules and safety. Call 702-267-5707 for more information.
Henderson Trail Watch
Trail Watch is looking for a few good volunteers. Do you enjoy running, walking, riding a bike, hiking, riding a horse, or exercising on Henderson trails? Then why not volunteer your time while doing something you enjoy?
Henderson Trail Watch is a volunteer group dedicated to promoting safety and appropriate trail use by providing information and assistance to trail users, observing and documenting safety issues requiring attention, and serving as a positive presence on Henderson trails.
For more information, call 702-267-5707 or email COHTrailWatch@cityofhenderson.com.
This hiking challenge helps motivate residents to get out and hike eight trails. If you have the drive to walk them all, you’ll be rewarded with a hiking stick. Earn plaques to affix to your walking stick in subsequent seasons. $20 for the first session; $8 for each additional session. Register in person at any recreation center to pick up your hiking checklist. For additional information, see the current issue of Henderson Happenings or call 702-267-5707.
