Who We Are

The Department of Performance and Innovation (DPI) is an internal service organization within the City of Henderson. Our role is to provide support to all departments for the City's strategic plan, performance excellence program, and continuous improvement and innovation. We also provide support for Citywide systems and oversee the City's Customer Service program.

Strategic Plan

The City’s strategic planning process provides a systematic approach that ensures key priorities and goals leverage opportunities and address the challenges.

Our current plan will help us navigate the next four years while allowing us to adjust to our community’s growing needs. Throughout the life of the plan, City leadership will meet and discuss new opportunities for cross-collaborations and new major opportunity areas or initiatives may be added as a result of these meetings.

The FY24-27 Strategic Plan will enable our organization to continue meeting our mission to provide services and resources that enhance the quality of life of those who live, learn, work and play in our city while striving “To Be America’s Premier Community.”

Performance Excellence

Path to Premier Logo Current 2023The Path to Premier is the City's leadership framework that focuses on performance excellence and results. This framework is the basis for performance improvement and has categories: Gather Information & Establish Requirements, Set the Strategy, Assign & Allocate Resources, Support & Maximize Talent, and Results.

Open Data

Open data takes the approach of proactively publishing data on the Internet for citizens to access and analyze. By defining the departmental participation expectations and governance principles of the City's Open Data Program, the City establishes formal governance processes to make public data-sharing institutional and sustainable while also establishing implementation timelines, providing oversight over the long-term availability of information across internal and external performance metrics for all City departments, demonstrating public commitment to lasting change, and providing the best opportunity to maximize the return on public investment by gathering and analyzing information.

Continuous Improvement 

Continuous Improvement is about making processes more efficient and effective, e.g. eliminating waste, improving response times, and/or increasing customer satisfaction. At the City of Henderson we constantly strive to be better through learning from new methods and/or utilizing past experiences to improve. Our culture of continuous improvement not only includes formal improvement; approaches, but also looks at simple problems and how to fix them. A City of Innovation Case Studies
