The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is responsible for setting national drinking water standards that protect the health of more than 250 million people who get their drinking water from public water systems.

Since 1974, the EPA has set national standards for over 90 contaminants that may be found in drinking water. While the EPA and the State of Nevada set and enforce these standards, the City of Henderson is directly responsible for the quality of the water that flows to Henderson residents and businesses. The City's areas of responsibility include testing and treating the water, maintaining the distribution system that delivers water to your tap, and reporting on water quality to the State of Nevada, Division of Environmental Protection.
