Industry Notice

Effective immediately, the City of Henderson (City) will begin enforcing the new regulations set in place by Assembly Bill 220. The bill was passed on June 6, 2023, approved by the Governor, and written into state law.

State law now requires if a parcel is serviced by Colorado River water provided by the City, they must also connect to the City’s sewer system, regardless of the distance. The Henderson Municipal Code (HMC Title 14) states all new developments located within 400 feet from the nearest City water main must connect to the City’s water system. The builder is required to extend the public water/sewer mains to the parcel, and across the full frontage of the lot(s) they are developing.

Existing septic customers are required to connect to City sewer if they require a new septic permit (permission to construct) from the Southern Nevada Health District for any reason.  For example, the existing septic tank is inadequately sized based on a proposed remodel or addition to the existing dwelling.  SNWA is working on a septic conversion program that may provide financial assistance.
