The City is Offering Homeowners a Residential Amnesty Program

In recognition of Building Safety Month, the City of Henderson is waiving penalty fees throughout May for unpermitted residential construction.

The amnesty program gives Henderson homeowners an opportunity to pull permits without penalties on residential construction that was started or finished without a permit. Henderson homeowners will be subject to pay standard fees for permits throughout the amnesty period.

The primary goal of the residential amnesty program is to encourage safety and ensure compliance of all non-permitted construction with adopted building codes as mandated by law.

The residential amnesty program includes, but is not limited to, the following types of construction projects:

  • Room additions
  • Electrical or plumbing work
  • Patio covers
  • Garage conversions
  • Block wall repairs, installations and replacements
  • Interior or exterior alterations
  • Water heater installation
  • Furnace or air conditioning replacement

Residents with questions or wishing to take advantage of Amnesty month are encouraged to call Permitting at 702-267-3620 or email cohpermits@cityofhenderson.com.
