The City of Henderson Supports Mental Health

The health and well-being of our community and employees are a priority. We encourage all our residents to pay attention to their mental health and know the various warning signs.

The City of Henderson is dedicated to working at the forefront of community and behavioral health by investigating, applying, and evaluating solutions that address the overall health concerns of our community.

From fitness to mental health wellness to health education, policies, and practice, Community and Behavioral Health focuses on the interconnectedness of social and behavioral factors that influence populations at the individual and community levels.

Community Health focuses on the greater population, playing the important role of creating preventive healthcare plans and designing informational awareness campaigns to teach the community about health and promote wellness. By focusing on the overall contributors to a population’s health, it plays a vital role in making sure that the community is as healthy as possible, addressing patterns of various diseases and how they can affect the community.

Behavioral Health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. Behavioral health affects the ways we think, feel, and act, and helps us determine how we can handle stresses, relate to others, and be equipped to make healthy choices.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental Health is an important part of your overall sense of well-being. Here are some ideas to help you focus on your mental health and wellness.

  • Set up a weekly call with friends or family to chat.
  • Take 10 minutes each day for meditation.
  • Practice yoga, walk, run or do any other exercise that makes you happy!
  • Set a schedule. Going to bed and waking up at the same times each day helps with stress.
  • Write a positive affirmation down and put it somewhere you’ll see it.

Employee Heath and Wellness Center

Congresswoman Dina Titus recently toured our Employee Health and Wellness Center with Mayor Michelle Romero to see first-hand how our new facility helps keep employee physical and mental health a priority in the City. Expanded care to first responders is a focus at the Employee Health and Wellness Center, and various services are available such as a peer support network, a chaplain program, critical incident stress debriefing and more.

Congresswoman Titus' support was instrumental in securing funding for the facility, and the City is grateful for her efforts.
