Helpful Referrals

Information and referrals are also made to the appropriate outside service agencies including but not limited to programs addressing senior housing assistance, utility assistance and food programs.

Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP)

The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) is a federally-funded program that works to improve the health of low-income Henderson seniors (ages 60+) by supplementing their diets with nutritious U. S. Department of Agriculture food.

CSFP food packages may include items such as rice, dry beans, canned vegetables and ready-to-eat cereal. Packages are not intended to provide complete meals but do include foods that provide nutrients typically lacking in the diets of many seniors.

Application

To complete an application for CSFP, you’ll need to provide:

  • A picture ID. This can be a valid (not expired) Nevada driver’s license or a Nevada state ID with your current address on it.
  • Proof of gross income per household. This includes a copy of your Social Security award letter or a copy of a recent bank statement showing the direct deposit, along with information about any other income you receive.

You may not complete an application if your household has applied for or received CSFP benefits at another distribution site.

Waiting List

Once your application is received and reviewed, you will be placed on a waiting list. Even though you’re on the waiting list, please visit us each month on commodities day at 1pm. Unclaimed commodities are distributed at that time to patrons on the waiting list on a first come, first served basis.

For additional information, call 702-267-2956.

Extra Help With Medicare Prescription Drug Plan Costs

If you have Medicare, you can get Medicare prescription drug coverage. Some people with limited resources may also be able to get Extra Help to pay for the costs related to a Medicare prescription drug plan.

To learn about program qualifications or to sign up, visit on the third Monday of the month from 10am-Noon or call 702-267-2956.

State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP)

Trained volunteer counselors will walk you through the decision-making processes of selecting or changing your supplemental health insurance and Medicare part D. These volunteers provide unbiased information so you may make an educated decision about your health care. The service is available by appointment only on the third Thursday of the month.

To schedule an appointment, call 702-267-2956.
