Henderson Celebrates 20 Schools to Earn Distinguished 5-Star Rating

HENDERSON, Nev. (Feb. 1, 2024) – The City of Henderson proudly celebrates the 20 public schools that earned distinguished 5-star status, as determined by the Nevada Department of Education’s Nevada School Performance Framework (NSPF). The schools were recognized at an event at City Hall on Jan. 31.

Under the NSPF, each public school is issued an annual index score and star rating based on that school’s performance on various measures over the prior school year, including English language arts, science and mathematics. A 5-star rating “Recognizes a superior school that exceeds expectations for all students and subgroups,” according to the NSPF.

Nearly a third (32.3%) of all Clark County schools to achieve 5-star status are located in Henderson. The following 20 Henderson schools made the list:

• College of Southern Nevada South High School
• Coral Academy of Science Eastgate Middle School
• Coral Academy of Science Sandy Ridge High School
• Coral Academy of Science Windmill Middle School
• Elise L. Wolff Elementary School
• Estes McDoniel Elementary School
• Gordon McCaw STEAM Academy
• James E. & A. Rae Smalley Elementary School
• Neil C. Twitchell Elementary School
• Nevada State High School Henderson
• Nevada State High School Henderson: Downtown
• Pinecrest Cadence Elementary School 
• Pinecrest Cadence High School
• Pinecrest Horizon Elementary School
• Pinecrest Inspirada Middle School 
• Pinecrest Sloan Elementary School
• Pinecrest St. Rose Elementary School
• Pinecrest St. Rose Middle School 
• Somerset Stephanie Middle School
• Thurman White Middle School 

“Quality Education is one of our City’s strategic priorities and it is encouraging to see that our efforts to provide financial and programmatic support to Henderson schools are having an impact,” said Mayor Michelle Romero. “Our City Council is so proud of this achievement by our administrators, educators and support professionals which strengthens our commitment to helping our students and teachers succeed.”
