Kids Are Invited to Vote at Henderson City Hall During 2024 Election Year

HENDERSON, Nev. (Jan. 18, 2024) – The City of Henderson is encouraging children under 18 to come to City Hall with a registered voter to participate and learn about the election process by voting for their favorite ice cream flavor through the 2024 election year.

Starting with the Presidential Preference Primary, children can vote on eight different ice cream flavors which will then by narrowed down to four flavors during the Primary Election in June. During the General Election, kids can vote on the final two flavors.

The following is the Presidential Preference Primary voting schedule for Henderson City Hall:

Early Voting
Monday, Jan. 29 – Thursday, Feb. 1
7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Election Day
Tuesday, Feb. 6.
7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
 
Purple Penguin Snowcone Shack will offer a free scoop of ice cream for young voters that participate in the Presidential Preference Primary. Participants will also receive a special “I voted” sticker. The City of Henderson will provide updates on the ice cream race, and the winning flavor will be announced on social media.

“We want to teach our young residents about the elections and why voting matters in a fun and interactive way," said City Clerk Jose Luis Valdez. "By encouraging our adult and future voters to come to City Hall to cast their ballots, they will have a better understanding of how the process works and how important their voice is in our community."

Henderson City Hall will be a ballot drop off and polling location for registered voters during the Presidential Preference Primary, Primary Election and General Election.
