Henderson Police Investigated Traffic Collision Resulting in Delayed Fatality

Henderson, Nev. – (January 16th, 2024) On January 6th, 2024, at approximately 12:12 P.M., the City of Henderson Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of Sunset Road and Athenian Drive in reference to a collision involving two vehicles.

Preliminary investigation revealed a blue Ford coupe was on eastbound Sunset Road, waiting in a turn lane at Athenian Drive, with a flashing yellow light. A gray Dodge sedan was traveling on westbound Sunset Road approaching Athenian Drive. The blue Ford failed to yield the right of way, continued into the intersection, and was struck on the passenger side by the gray Dodge. 

Both driver and passenger of the blue Ford were transported to local area hospitals for injuries sustained. 

On January 13th, 2024, Henderson Police Fatal Investigators were notified that the
passenger in the Ford succumbed to their injuries. 

Speed nor impairment are considered to be factors in this incident.

The name of the decedent will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office after
next of kin notifications.

The collision is being investigated as the third accident-related fatality for 2024.
