Post Date:01/08/2024 9:14 AM
HENDERSON, Nev. (Jan. 8, 2024) – As the new year begins, the City of Henderson celebrates its significant water conservation accomplishments in 2023 due in part to the City's sustainability initiatives and efforts of its residents and businesses.

Henderson highlights the following successes from 2023:
• Reduced citywide usage by more than one billion gallons as compared to 2022
• Water consumption is down well over 10% at City parks and facilities
• Removed or converted almost 700,000 square feet of decorative grass in residential and business areas and in City parks, a nearly 40% increase from 2022
• Conserved over 162 million gallons of water in City parks, more than six times the amount saved in 2022
• Repeat water waste notifications reduced by over 15%, indicating faster compliance with regional watering schedule after contact
• Recognized Anthem Country Club with the City’s inaugural Water Conservation Award for extensive landscaping renovations that are expected to save nearly 60 million gallons of water annually

The City of Henderson credits its successes to residents and businesses doing their part to conserve. In addition, the City has enhanced water conservation measures such as offering supplemental and residential rebates to remove decorative grass, turf conversions at City parks, more strict enforcement of water waste, and educating high users through its H2One campaign.

"We are proud of the progress we made this year, and we are grateful to all of our residents and businesses who answered the call to conserve," said Director of Utility Services Priscilla Howell. "But there is much more to do. Together we can ensure Henderson remains a vibrant and thriving community for generations to come."

The City looks forward to a robust year of water-conservation efforts in 2024, with projects like Reimagine Boulder Highway, continued park conversions and expanded programs within the City to address sustainability. Additionally, the City will celebrate the inaugural anniversary of H2One, Henderson's call to conserve our region's most valuable resource — water.
