HENDERSON, Nev. (Dec. 6, 2023) – The City of Henderson today announced it received another perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s Municipal Equality Index (MEI) for 2023.

The MEI examines how inclusive municipal laws, policies and services are for the LGBTQ+ community members who live and work within the surveyed cities. 

For the third consecutive year, the City of Henderson received 100 out of 100 points on the MEI. Criteria evaluated within the MEI include non-discrimination laws, the municipality as an employer, municipal services, law enforcement, LGBTQ+ equality leadership and more.

“We are proud to be recognized for our work in ensuring Henderson is a place to call home for everyone,” said City Manager Richard Derrick. “A third consecutive perfect score is a great honor, and a reminder that striving for equality is a goal that never ends, and Henderson will remain committed to these efforts.”

The 2023 MEI is the 12th annual edition and rates a total of 506 cities on various equality criteria from every state in the nation.
