Henderson, Nev. – (October 28, 2023) On October 27, 2023, at approximately 9:20 pm officers responded to the 2300 block of N. Green Valley Parkway in reference to a disturbance.

While enroute, Dispatch advised a male subject was inside of a residence, with a knife, vandalizing the residence and cutting himself with the knife.

Officers arrived on scene and were confronted outside by the 26-year-old male who was holding the knife in a threatening manner approaching officers.

Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation by giving the suspect multiple verbal commands to drop the knife.

While officers were giving verbal commands to the suspect, the suspect aggressed a nearby citizen.  Officers were successful in regaining the suspect’s attention towards them and away from the citizen.

The suspect continued to aggress officers while still refusing to drop the knife and yelling for officers to shoot him.  Officers attempted to tase the suspect, however the taser was ineffective. Officers then discharged their weapons striking the suspect.

Officer administered first aid until paramedics arrived on scene. The suspect was then transported to a local area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

No officers were injured in this incident.

The name of the decedent will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office pending notification of the next of kin.

As this is an open investigation, no further details will be released at this time.

This is the third officer-involved shooting for 2023.

The involved Henderson Police Officers have been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, and the names will be released after 48 hours, per department policy.
