City of Henderson Celebrates Industry Success During Manufacturing Week

HENDERSON, Nev. (Oct. 3, 2023) – The City of Henderson will recognize and celebrate its local manufacturing industry and its successes during Manufacturing Week Oct. 3-7. At today’s City Council meeting, the Mayor and Council will issue a Proclamation declaring Oct. 6 as Manufacturing Day in Henderson.

The City of Henderson considers manufacturing one of its key components to the City's economic successes. Since 2018, Henderson has assisted 25 manufacturing projects that produced 2,146 jobs and $482 million in capital investment. The City is home to more than 50 manufacturing firms, providing more than 5,000 jobs.

To further strengthen Henderson's manufacturing industry, the City opened the Debra March Center of Excellence in partnership with the College of Southern Nevada. The state-of-the-art facility will provide advanced manufacturing training to ensure a skilled workforce. 

“Henderson is all-in on manufacturing,” said City Manager/CEO Richard Derrick. “This is a historic and vital industry for the present and future of Southern Nevada. We remain committed to our City's economic vitality by enhancing and creating infrastructure to support our current and future businesses.” 

Henderson is home to many manufacturing businesses, including Lithion Battery, Flower Foods, Wells Enterprises, Ethel M Chocolates, Xtreme Cubes, Sunshine Minting and more. 

The City is also an active participant with Nevada Workforce Connections, Southern Nevada’s Local Workforce Development Board, connecting job seekers to education, job training and employment opportunities, including in the manufacturing industry. 

“We continue to take bold steps in diversifying and strengthening our economy,” said Henderson Director of Economic Development Jared Smith. “We are thrilled to have every business who has already made Henderson their home, and I look forward to welcoming even more in the future.”

Since the City of Henderson’s incorporation in 1953, manufacturing has been a crucial sector in growing the City, and Manufacturing Day on Oct. 6 is Day is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers.
