Henderson to Open New Employee Health and Wellness Center Emphasizing First Responder Mental Health

Post Date:09/28/2023 11:37 AM
WHAT: The City of Henderson will debut its new Employee Health and Wellness Center, the City’s first-of-a-kind facility that provides resources and services to support the mental health and wellness of first responders and employees.

The Employee Health and Wellness Center’s purpose is to provide an accessible and convenient location for Henderson first responders and employees to receive preventative care and services in a timely manner.

Henderson Mayor Michelle Romero, Councilman Dan Stewart, U.S. Congresswoman Dina Titus and representatives from the Henderson Police and Fire Department will provide remarks prior to the ceremonial ribbon cutting.

“The physical and mental well-being of our first responders and employees have always been a priority for us and is critical to our goal of providing high-performing public service,” said Henderson Mayor Michelle Romero. “The Employee Health and Wellness Center is an innovative means for Henderson to lead the way in providing employees with access to medical services as well as mental health and wellness resources.”

A demonstration of Vitanya, a brainwave mapping program designed to increase brain performance and traumatic event resiliency among first responders, will be on-site. The City of Henderson was one of the first agencies in Southern Nevada to implement Vitanya for its police and fire personnel.

The Employee Health and Wellness Center is part of the City of Henderson Public Safety Wellness Program that assists Police and Fire Department employees through various services, including peer support network, a chaplain program, critical incident stress debriefing and more.

In addition to mental health services, the center will also provide comprehensive medical evaluations, pre-and post-employment testing services, vaccinations and more.
