Officers arrived on scene and made contact with 53-year-old, Ronald Winborne, who had a knife in his hand. Winborne pointed the knife at an officer and was subsequently tased and placed into custody.

On March 27th, 2023, while in-custody, Winborne’s health began to decline, and it was determined by medical staff that Winborne be transported to Sunrise Hospital for continued evaluation. Later that day, Winborne died while at the hospital.
