Henderson, Nev. – On February 23rd, at approximately 4:10 p.m., the City of Henderson Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of Las Vegas Boulevard South and Welpman Way in reference to a possible auto pedestrian accident.

Preliminarily, it was reported that an unknown male stole the victim’s vehicle, struck the victim with the vehicle, and fled the scene on foot.

Officers arrived on scene to discover a 44-year-old male deceased at the scene from injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

Henderson Detectives determined the person reporting, identified as 33-year-old Danika Cain, fabricated the initial incident, and it was learned that the victim and Cain had been involved in a domestic related verbal argument. During the argument, the victim exited the vehicle and Cain struck the victim with their vehicle, killing the victim.

Cain was taken into custody and booked into the Henderson Detention Center on one count of Open Murder with a Deadly Weapon. Her booking photo is attached.

The name of the decedent will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office pending notification of next of kin.

As this is an open investigation, no further details will be released at this time.
