CITY OF HENDERSON RELEASES DECEMBER COMMUNITY EVENTS CALENDAR

HENDERSON, Nev. (Nov. 15, 2022) – The City of Henderson announced its December events calendar featuring several family-fun activities. For additional information about each event, visit cityofhenderson.com. Schedules are subject to change.  

Now through December 31 | Home for the Holidays Adoption Special

Find your new furry companion during Henderson’s Animal Care and Control adoption special. Adoption fees for animals one year and older are half-off. Visit the Henderson Animal Care and Control to meet your next furever friend.

Thursday, December 1 | Winterfest 2022 Tree Lighting

Join the City of Henderson for its annual tree lighting ceremony taking place on Water Street Plaza at 5 p.m. Enjoy Christmas carolers, hot cocoa, and photo-ops next to the tree!

Friday, December 2 | Winterfest 2022 Evening Lights Parade

Henderson’s first Winterfest Parade since 2019 is back! Get into the holiday spirit while enjoying a dazzling lights-themed parade featuring floats, music and more! The parade will take place along Water Street and begins at 7 p.m.

Saturday, December 3 | Selected Shorts

Come to the Water Street Plaza Amphitheater for an events of holiday stories filled with love, laughter and nostalgia told by husband-and-wife team Gildart Jackson and Melora Hardin of hit TV Show “Office,” along with actress Carolina Ravassa. Selected Shorts begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 the day of.

December 9 | DjangoBells—A Gypsy Jazz Holiday Experience

For the first-time, Water Street Plaza Amphitheater hosts Djangobells—A Gypsy Jazz Holiday Experience featuring acclaimed musicians Richard Smith as well as The Lost Fingers with John Jorgenson. The concert begins at 6 p.m. and tickets can be purchased in advance for $15 or $20 day of.

December 9 | Cosmic Swim Winter Wonderland 
Enjoy a festive cosmic-themed night at the Henderson Multigenerational Indoor Pool full of winter activities. Your interstellar aquatic experience includes music, lights, and glow gear. This event costs $5 per person and is open to all ages and is happening from 7:00-9:00 p.m.

December 9 | Paint and Pizza: Ugly Sweater Party 
Kids are invited to Black Mountain Recreation Center’s Ugly Sweater Party from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Kids ages 5-12 will enjoy an amazing night painting their favorite things about the holiday season and play fun games under the supervision of our staff. Dinner is included. Registration is $20. 

December 9 | All Aboard the Polar Express
Enjoy “The Polar Express” while sipping hot chocolate at the Valley View Recreation Center starting at 6 p.m. Participants ages 6-12 are encouraged to wear festive pajamas as they meet a very special guest. All participants will receive a small trinket to celebrate the magic of Christmas. The movie is free with the option to purchase drinks and treats for $10.

December 9 | Henderson Symphony Orchestra presents Holiday Jukebox

Henderson Symphony Orchestra's holiday celebration this year features selections from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker. The Coronado High School Choir will also join the orchestra in this annual holiday celebration at Coronado High School starting at 7:30 p.m.

December 10 | A Very POPera Christmas

Enjoy an operatic twist to timeless holiday favorites inside the Water Street Plaza Amphitheater! A Very POPera Christmas performance is FREE and starts at 7 p.m.

December 10 | Pictures with Santa 
Santa Claus is visiting Black Mountain Recreation Center from 9-10:30 a.m. to meet and pose for pictures. A digital picture will be sent to your personal email. You may also bring your own camera. This event costs $2.

December 10 | Puppy Pictures with Santa
Santa Claus is making a special stop to take photos with your pup at the Black Mountain Recreation Center from 10:30 a.m. to noon. A digital picture will be sent to your personal email. You may also bring your own camera. This event costs $2.

December 10 & 11 | Merry Grinchmas at Heritage Bark Park
Bring your furry friends to the Bark Park in Heritage Park from 10:30 a.m. to noon to capture a photo of your pup with the Grinch! Along with the photo-op, dogs can take advantage of the pop-up agility courses and treats. This all-age event costs $5.

December 14 | Jingle All the Way
You are invited to attend our 3rd annual drive-thru holiday event at Heritage Park Senior Facility. Meet our City leaders and staff while they spread holiday cheer and season’s greetings from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Participants must provide own transportation. This free event is for ages 50+ and their immediate household members. 

December 14 | Little Knights Out

Children ages 5-12 are invited to Little Knights Out at the Henderson Multigenerational Center while parents enjoy a Henderson Silver Knights game next door. Various games and crafts that can include rock wall, BEAM interactive video game and movies will be available. Dinner is also included. Registration is $20.

December 17 | A Ryan Shupe & the RubberBand Christmas

Bring the family to a dynamic and joyful holiday performance by Ryan Shupe & the RubberBand inside the Water Street Plaza Amphitheater! The concert begins at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $15 in advance or $20 day of.

December 17 | Candy Cane Festival
Celebrate the magic of winter with us at the Heritage Park Aquatic Complex from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. with games, bounce house, treats and the popular underwater candy cane hunt. Registration is $5, but free admission is available for those who donate new or gently used coats.

December 17 | Whitney Wonderland
Come to Whitney Ranch Recreation Center from 10 a.m. to noon for the annual reindeer games, toy making and holiday storytelling with Santa’s elves! Those in attendance can take a photo with Santa and enjoy a light breakfast. Registration is $5.

December 17 | Reindeer Dash 5K Run and 1-Mile Walk
Make a dash from Cornerstone Park to Pittman Wash Trail this winter for a jolly good time. Participants 5 and up are encouraged to don their most cheerful costumes or ugly holiday sweaters. Souvenir T-shirts are guaranteed for the first 300 participants. All fitness levels are welcome. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to noon. Registration is $25 for the 5K and $15 for the 1-mile walk.

December 17-22 | Escape Room Series: Winter Wonderland
Come out to the winter wonderland-themed escape room at the Downtown Recreation Center. Families will have one hour to escape the room. Each reservation time slot holds a maximum of 10 participants from the same household. Cost is $15 per person. Registration ends December 12. 

December 18 | Winter Solstice at the Bird Viewing Preserve
Bring the family to the Bird Viewing Preserve to learn about the Winter Solstice, make crafts and enjoy refreshments! This fun, outdoor learning experience begins at 10 a.m. until noon. Registration is $10.

December 18 | The Klezmatics- Live in Concert

 Celebrate the beginning of Hanukkah 2022 with Grammy-winning superstars of the klezmer world, The Klezmatics! The performance begins at 3 p.m. at the Water Street Plaza Amphitheater. Tickets are $15 when purchased in advance or $20 the day of.
