Henderson, Nev. - (September 1, 2022) On August 31, 2022, at approximately 8:20 p.m., the City of Henderson Police and Fire Departments responded to the intersection of South Valle Verde Drive and Clearwater Canyon Drive, in reference to a collision involving three vehicles.  

Preliminary investigation revealed a silver Honda passenger vehicle and a black Ford pickup were traveling northbound on South Valle Verde Drive approaching Clearwater Canyon Drive. The Honda passed the Ford in the #1 travel lane and a collision occurred in the #2 travel lane. 

The first collision caused the Ford to drive into the southbound travel lanes and caused a second collision with grayish Hyundai SUV. 

The driver of the Ford was partially ejected from the vehicle.

Impairment was not considered a factor in this incident. 

Speed and reckless driving are considered a factor in this incident.

The 54 -year-old male driver of the Ford ultimately succumbed to his injuries received in the collision.   

Traffic at the intersection was closed for approximately 4 hours while the investigation was conducted.

As this is still an active and open investigation, no further details will be provided at this time.

The name of the decedent will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office after next of kin notifications. 

The collision is being investigated as the eighth accident-related fatality for 2022.
