Henderson Police Investigate Shooting Resulting in Delayed Death

Henderson, Nev. – On January 1st at approximately 6:30 a.m., the City of Henderson Police and Fire Department responded to the intersection of Sunset Road and Valle Verde Drive in reference to a vehicle collision where gunshots had also been reported.

Upon police arrival, officers located a 35-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds to his legs and the suspect(s) outstanding. The male was transported to Sunrise Hospital in critical condition.

Henderson Detectives preliminary investigation revealed a silver Ford Fusion was rear ended by a dark colored Nissan passenger car, and the involved vehicles pulled to the side of the road to exchange information. At that time, the driver of the Nissan became irate, acted as if a physical confrontation was imminent, and pulled out a firearm, firing multiple rounds at the victim. The Nissan and its driver fled the scene prior to officer arrival.

Witnesses were unable to provide a suspect description. Henderson Detectives learned the victim succumbed to his injuries on January 15, 2021.

The name of the decedent will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office pending notification of next of kin.

As this is an open investigation, no further details will be released at this time.

This is being investigated as the first homicide for the City of Henderson for 2021.
