Henderson Police Investigating Fatal Collision

Henderson, Nev. - (May 2, 2022) On May 2, 2022, at approximately 9:40 a.m., the City of Henderson Police and Fire Departments responded to the intersection of Stephanie Street and American Pacific Drive, in reference to a collision involving a motorcycle and a box truck. 

Preliminary investigation revealed a white Ducati motorcycle was traveling southbound on Stephanie Street approaching American Pacific Drive behind numerous vehicles.  The light cycled to a steady red signal at that intersection.  The motorcycle moved into a right turn only lane to pass the stopped traffic, entered the intersection against the red light, and colliding into a white Isuzu PGR box truck that was turning left on a green arrow from northbound Stephanie Street onto westbound American Pacific Drive.

Impairment was not considered a factor on behalf of the driver of the box truck.

It is not known whether the rider of the motorcycle was impaired.

Speed is considered a factor in this incident.

The 23 -year-old male motorcyclist was transported to Sunrise Trauma where he succumbed to his injuries.  

Traffic at the intersection was closed for approximately 3 hours while the investigation was conducted.

As this is still an active and open investigation, no further details will be provided at this time.

The name of the decedent will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office after next of kin notifications. 

The collision is being investigated as the seventh accident-related fatality for 2022.
