Henderson, Nev. – A community assessment survey commissioned by the City of Henderson in late 2021 concluded that 97% of residents are satisfied with the city as a place to live and 94% feel Henderson is a good place to raise a family.

In the 2021 Henderson Community Survey, residents rated services provided by the city significantly higher than the national average in 41 areas spanning public safety, parks and recreation, public works, roadways and infrastructure, and communication. Satisfaction with the overall quality of city services was rated 35% above the U.S. average and the value received for taxes/fees was rated 38% higher.

“Residents’ positive perception of the City of Henderson is similar to past community assessments and in some areas, the 2021 survey shows a remarkable increase in satisfaction with city services, despite the many challenges our community faced over the last two years,” said City Manager/CEO Richard Derrick. “That residents continue to be happy with Henderson as a place to live, work, raise a family and retire, is truly a testament to our dedicated and talented employees who worked very hard during the global pandemic to continue to provide high-performing public service to the community.”

Notable increases in resident satisfaction since the previous community survey was completed in 2018 are in the areas of feeling safe downtown and in city parks, traffic signal timing, water and wastewater service reliability, employment opportunities and police services.

Past citizen surveys have helped the City of Henderson to focus strategic planning efforts and invest in areas that are important to residents. While the 2021 survey did show improved satisfaction with roadways and infrastructure, and crime prevention, these are still the categories that residents feel should receive the most emphasis over the next two years.

The 2021 Henderson Community Survey was performed by ETC Institute, a national leader in market research specializing in local government organizations. More than 900 surveys were completed by randomly selected Henderson households, yielding statistically valid data that has a 95% level of confidence with a margin of error of +/-3.2%. The city’s four wards were equally represented in the data with more than 200 surveys completed in each geographic area.
