Henderson Police Investigating Fatal Traffic Collision

Henderson, Nev. – On December 4, 2021, at approximately 7:00 P.M., the City of Henderson Police Department, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, and the Clark County Fire Department responded to the intersection of northbound Eastern Avenue and westbound Bluegrass Lane in reference to a collision involving four vehicles.   

Preliminary investigation revealed a red Toyota sedan was traveling westbound on Bluegrass Lane approaching a controlled intersection.   

A silver Lexus sedan was traveling northbound on Eastern Avenue when the red Toyota sedan failed to stop for the posted stop sign, colliding into the Lexus, and subsequently causing a collision with two additional vehicles that were also traveling on Eastern Avenue. 

The driver of the Lexus was transported to a local area hospital were the subject succumbed to their injuries. 

The driver of a third vehicle was also transported to a local area hospital for injuries sustained from the incident and is expected to recover.  

Speed and impairment are considered factors in this incident.

The driver of the Toyota was identified as 30-year-old Dustin J. Porter. Dustin was transported to a local area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and evidentiary testing. 

Dustin was placed in custody by L.V.M.P.D. for DUI Resulting in Death and Fail To Obey at a Controlled Intersection. For information regarding the arrest please contact L.V.M.P.D.  

Traffic in all directions of Eastern Avenue and Bluegrass Lane was closed for approximately five hours while the fatal accident investigators conducted the investigation. 

As this is still an open investigation, no further details will be provided at this time.

The name of the decedent will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office after next of kin notifications. 

The accident is being investigated as the eighth accident-related fatality for 2021.
