Henderson Traffic Accident Updated as Fatality

Henderson, - Nev. On January 2, 2021 at approximately 5:44 P.M., Henderson Police and Fire responded to the intersection of Foothill Drive and Bridle Drive in reference to a serious injury accident involving a single vehicle and a pedestrian.

Preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling on Foothill Drive when it struck a 32-year-old female who was also walking on Foothill Drive and fled the scene.

The 32-year-old female was transported to Sunrise Trauma in critical condition.

Speed and impairment were suspected on behalf of the driver of the vehicle.

The driver was identified as 23-year-old Ian Acklin; Acklin was located and booked into the Henderson Detention Center on January 2, 2021 for the following charges:

1 count Duty Stop at the Scene of Accident
1 count Fail to render Aid at vehicle accident
1 count DUI Resulting in Substantial Bodily Harm

Henderson Traffic Investigators were notified that the 32-year-old pedestrian had succumbed to her injuries on January 7, 2021.

As this is still an active and open investigation, no further details will be provided at this time.

The name of the decedent will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office after next of kin notifications.

The collision is being investigated as the second accident-related fatality for 2021.
