Henderson, Nev. – On April 21st, at approximately 5:49 a.m., the City of Henderson Police and Fire Departments were called to a residence in the 600 block of Whitney Ranch Drive in reference to a female caller stating a black male broke into her home, attacked her, and then fled the residence.

Responding officers located an 85-year-old female with extensive facial and head injuries.  She was transported to Sunrise Hospital in critical condition.

Through continued investigation, Henderson Detectives were able to positively identify the suspect as 27-year-old Demetrius Walker.  Walker was taken into custody a short time later on an unrelated call for service involving Walker.

Walker was booked into the Henderson Detention Center on 1 count of Attempt Murder, 1 count of Attempt Robbery, and 1 count of Home Invasion.  His booking photo is attached.

It was learned the female succumbed to her injuries on April 29, 2021; therefore, his charges will be amended to add 1 count of Open Murder.

The name of the decedent will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office pending notification of next of kin.

As this is an open investigation, no further details will be released at this time.

This is being investigated as the sixth homicide for the City of Henderson for 2021.
