Henderson Police Investigate Officer-Involved Shooting Involving Barricaded Subject

Henderson, Nev. – (April 15, 2024) On April 12, 2024, at approximately 11:20am, the Criminal Apprehension Team for major violators unit responded to the 200 block of Callen Falls Avenue in reference capturing a wanted subject, involved in a Henderson Police Department violent felony case.

Officers on scene advised the target subject had barricaded inside a residence, was armed and making suicidal statements, refusing to surrender.

The City of Henderson Police Department officers arrived on scene and immediately set up containment at the residence.  Negotiations with the suspect were initiated.  

SWAT and CNT arrived on scene.

Continuous efforts to deescalate this incident went on for several hours without success. During the negotiations the suspect discharged several rounds inside the residence.  

On April 13, 2024, at about 8:45am, Henderson’s SWAT team made entry into the residence where the suspect discharged multiple rounds.  One officer returned fire toward the suspect and all officers exited back out of the residence.  The suspect was not struck by this gunfire and no officers were injured during this encounter.  

Negotiations were continued for several more hours.

On April 14, 2024, at about 12:45am, officers located the suspect deceased. 

The name of the decedent, as well as cause and manner of death, will be provided by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

LVMPD and NLVPD provided mutual support to the Henderson Police Department during this incident.

Please note, the Criminal Apprehension Team is a multi-jurisdictional task force led by the FBI and staffed in the LVMPD’s Major Violators Bureau. It is comprised of FBI, LVMPD, Henderson, and North Las Vegas Police Departments

As this is an open investigation, no further details will be released at this time.

This is the first officer-involved shooting for 2024.

The involved Henderson Police Officer has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, and the name will be released after 48 hours, per department policy.

A Critical Incident Community Brief will be released once completed.

We are also grateful to Las Vegas Metro and North Las Vegas Police for their support and collaboration. This was a very concerning and inconvenient event, especially for those living in or near Tuscany, and we appreciate the community’s understanding and continued support of HPD.”
