Henderson Police Arrest Suspects in LDS Church Illegal Firework Incident

Henderson, Nev. – (April 12, 2024) On March 27, 2024, at approximately 8:00pm, the City of Henderson Police and Fire Departments responded to the LDS Church located in the 800 block of Arrowhead Trail in reference to an incendiary device.

It was determined that a mortar type firework was ignited within the structure resulting in minor injuries to four individuals who were treated and released at the scene.

This was the third incident that had occurred at this location.

Henderson Detectives identified the suspects as 18-year-old brothers Caden and Conner Renard.

They were taken into custody and booked into the Henderson Detention Center for the following charges: 

Connor Renard:
1 count Battery with a Deadly Weapon
5 counts Battery with use of a Deadly Weapon with Substantial Bodily Harm
1 count Arson 1st degree
2 counts Possess Explosive Device
2 counts Possess Explosive Device Components with Intent
1 count Possess Explosive Device in Public Area
1 count Use Explosive Device in the Commission of a Felony
2 counts Use Explosive Device to Damage/Destroy Property
2 counts Burglary while in possession of a Deadly Weapon
2 counts Damage Religious Property
2 counts Coerce with Force or Threat of Force
1 count of Conspiracy to use Explosive in Commission of a Felony

Caden Renard:
6 counts Battery with a Deadly Weapon
2 counts Burglary while in possession of a Deadly Weapon
2 counts Arson 1st degree
3 counts Possess Explosive Device
1 count Possess Explosive Device Components with Intent
1 count Use Explosive Device in the Commission of a Felony
1 count Use Explosive Device in the Commission of a Felony
2 counts Coerce with Force or Threat of Force
1 count Possess Explosive Device in Public Area
2 counts Damage Religious Property
2 counts Use Explosive Device to Damage/Destroy Property

At this time, these events do not to appear to be racially/ethnically motivated or a religious hate crime.

The FBI Las Vegas office, LVMPD, and the Southern Nevada Counter Terrorism Center (SNCTC) Task Force responded to the scene and have assisted in this investigation. 

As this is an active investigation, no further details will be released at this time.
