City Of Henderson Recognizes Fair Housing Month with Resource Activities

HENDERSON, Nev. (April 8, 2024) – In recognition of Fair Housing Month, the City of Henderson will host a variety of resource activities in partnership with Silver State Fair Housing Council to increase fair housing awareness and provide critical resources to residents.

Throughout April, the City will provide the following activities:

Downtown Recreation Center Resource Table | April 10, 9 a.m. – noon
Downtown Senior Center Resource Table | April 23, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Silver State Fair Housing Council (SSFHC) will host an informational resource table on behalf of the City to better engage and inform Henderson residents of all ages about their fair housing rights. The public will have an opportunity to speak with trained staff regarding fair housing rights and learn how to spot and report suspected discrimination. Informational materials will be available onsite.   

Henderson Planning Commission Meeting | April 11, 4 p.m.
Silver State Fair Housing Council will provide an informational presentation on fair housing rights and bring awareness of April as National Fair Housing Month. Informational materials will be available.

Fair Housing Month Regional Community Resource Fair | April 13, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
This Regional Community Resource Fair is open to the public and is sponsored by the City of Henderson, Las Vegas, and Clark County jurisdictions. The theme for this event is “putting the pieces together to learn your rights, resources, and remedies to find equal housing opportunity in Nevada”. Residents from across the region will have the opportunity to visit booths and receive information from a variety of agencies. SSFHC host a resource table to educate residents and stakeholders about their housing rights and offer the opportunity to speak with trained staff, ask questions, and learn how to identify and report suspected discrimination. Resources will be available in English and Spanish. It will be held at the East Las Vegas Community Center, Ballroom A, 250 N. Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89101.

Housing Advisory Committee Meeting | April 25, 3 p.m.
Silver State Fair Housing Council to make an informational presentation on fair housing rights, protected classes, and bring awareness to National Fair Housing Month to this newly formed appointed committee focusing on housing efforts.

The City of Henderson is committed to creating a welcoming, thriving, and inclusive community and supporting fair housing for all its residents. Each April, the City partners with Silver State Fair Housing Council to commemorate the 1968 Fair Housing Act landmark and bring awareness of fair housing in today’s marketplace.
