Henderson Recruiting Americorps Members for Youth Enrichment Programs

HENDERSON, Nev. (March 11, 2024) – The City of Henderson is actively recruiting AmeriCorps members interested in giving back to the community by serving in youth enrichment programs throughout the City. At its March 5 meeting, the City Council proclaimed March 10-16 as AmeriCorps Week in Henderson.

AmeriCorps is a network of local, state and national service programs that connects thousands of participants to meet community needs in education, environment, public safety, health and homeland security. 

City of Henderson AmeriCorps members can enjoy the following benefits while serving at various Henderson Safekey programs and Battle Born Kids Summer Camp locations: 

• Receive education awards to put towards college tuition or student loan repayment (transferable to family members for members 55+)
• Living allowance stipends
• Flexible, part-time hours
• Career development opportunities

Since launching the program in 2023, the City of Henderson AmeriCorps members have served approximately 1200 hours and reached 150 students across seven Henderson elementary schools.

AmeriCorps members must be 17 years or older to apply, be on track to earn a high school diploma, or have received one or its equivalent.
