Henderson Recognizes Sun City Anthem Community Association with Water Conservation Award

HENDERSON, Nev. (Feb. 21, 2024) – To further promote water conservation in the community, the City of Henderson presented its second annual Water Conservation Award to the Sun City Anthem Community Association at its Tuesday, Feb. 20 City Council meeting. This award celebrates and acknowledges their turf removal efforts that have totaled 6.5 million gallons of water savings annually.

As the 2023 recipient, Sun City Anthem Community Association achieved the following:

• Removed 109,300 square feet of decorative grass
• Saved over 150 million gallons of water since conservation projects began in 2018
• Installed 40 smart water controllers

This program was instituted last year, and honored Anthem Country Club with the inaugural award. It recognizes Henderson water service customers who have made outstanding achievements in any of the following water conservation areas:

• Water-efficient landscape redesign
• Renewable water policies and practices
• Environmental stewardship
• Community outreach programs
• Water loss reduction
• Employee education
• Water savings contributions
• Process optimization

"Water conservation is critical and requires the support of all residents and businesses in our community," said Priscilla Howell, director of the Department of Utility Services. "We are pleased to see the actions taken by Sun City Anthem Community Association that will have a lasting impact on our most valuable natural resources.”
