A recreation and tournament facility for Henderson youth and adults made possible though a unique collaboration

At the May 21 Council Meeting, we were excited to introduce of a new state-of-the-art indoor sports complex coming to West Henderson!

 

The West Henderson Fieldhouse will be located on city-owned land, located on the southeast corner of St. Rose Parkway and Maryland Parkway, behind the Chicken-N-Pickle!

 

Project Details

courtsThe 180,000 square-foot, two-level facility is anticipated to have the following features: 

 

  • Basketball courts that can convert to other court uses such as volleyball and pickleball
  • Hybrid turf fields for sports like indoor soccer, box lacrosse and indoor football
  • Birthday party and community rooms
  • Family entertainment to potentially feature bowling, laser tag, arcade games, miniature golf and a restaurant and bar

The facility will be operated by a third party, KemperSports, a leading sports, entertainment and hospitality company that manages more than 140 golf courses, private clubs, sports venues, and destination resorts nationwide.  


Through this public-private partnership we can provide our residents with additional recreational amenities throughout Henderson without burdening taxpayers with long-term financial impact. Henderson residents will be eligible for 20% discounts on all amenities.

 

In addition to the recreational amenity, the West Henderson indoor sports complex will also attract sports tournaments both locally and regionally, and is anticipated to have the following positive impact, supporting the City’s Economic Vitality strategic priority:

  • $1.5M annual tax revenue
  • $39.1M total economic output annually
  • $10.7M in wages and salary

Funding
The West Henderson indoor sports complex is a $70-million investment with funds provided through the private third-party partner and one-time funding sources, including public infrastructure bond sale, West Henderson Development Fund, and City Municipal Facilities Fund. 
 
The project is recommended for final approval at the July 2 City Council meeting.
