Post Date:01/12/2021
Henderson, - Nev. On January 11th, at approximately 8:50 p.m., the City of Henderson Police Department’s Investigative Unit had been conducting surveilance on a prolific Burglary suspect who had been known to be armed in the 1000 block of Stufflebeam Avenue.

Preliminarily, Detectives, with the assistance of K9 and patrol officers, developed a plan and attempted to apprehend the suspect inside of 1011 Stufflebeam Avenue. At this time, the suspect fled on foot from officers in the complex.

During the foot pursuit, the suspect brandished a firearm, which resulted in one officer discharging his firearm at the suspect.

The suspect was struck by gunfire and officers immediately began life saving measures. The suspect was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

One officer sustained a leg injury during the foot pursuit.

The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Joshua Watkins, was later released from the hospital, and transported to the Henderson Detention Center where he was booked on the following charges:

One count of Assault on a Protected Person with a Deadly Weapon
One count of Registered Ex-Felon in Possession of a Firearm
