Henderson to Celebrate Juneteenth with Flag Raising and Festival on Water Street Plaza

WHAT: Join the City of Henderson, in partnership with the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation of Nevada, for its annual Juneteenth Festival on Water Street Plaza!

This celebration will feature a flag-raising ceremony on Monday, June 3, and a free festival featuring a night full of music, community, and culture on Wednesday, June 19!
 
The free event will feature performances by the following acclaimed artists:

Skip Martin
Skip Martin is a Grammy and Emmy-winning artist, songwriter, producer, and author known for his roles as lead singer and trumpeter for Kool & the Gang and The Dazz Band. He has received numerous awards, including a Platinum & Gold Record recipient, R&B Song of the Year award, and six consecutive Top 100 albums. In May 2023, the president honored Skip with a prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the community.

Molodi
Molodi is a Las Vegas-based body percussion ensemble that combines stepping, beatbox, dance, and storytelling with funk. Co-founded by Jason Nious, Khalid Freeman, and Antwan Davis, they have performed in various productions and have been featured at international festivals. Molodi also serves the local community through their arts education program, Molodi Unplugged, which reaches over 20,000 students annually.

Marc Bamuthi Joseph
Marc Bamuthi Joseph is a renowned cultural strategist, TED Global Fellow, and award-winning artist. Bamuthi has completed commissions for Yale University, Albany Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, and Washington National Opera. He is also a featured performer in HBO's "Between the World and Me" and serves as the Vice President of Social Impact and Artistic Director of Cultural Strategy at The Kennedy Center.

Admission is free and seating is first-come, first served. Food and community vendors will be onsite.
