Unlike the wastewater from inside homes and businesses that flows to a wastewater treatment plant, any outside water runoff flows untreated through our washes into Lake Mead—our primary source of drinking water.

When it rains, stormwater runoff can collect pollutants from the ground and transport them into Lake Mead. Pollutants can be anything on the ground such as dirt, pet waste, pesticides/herbicides, oil and grease, and cigarette butts. These pollutants are harmful to wildlife, aquatic life, plants and humans. If we can remove these types of pollutants before they enter Lake Mead, we can help maintain a healthier water quality.

Stormwater runoff flows should be the only thing entering storm drains. Any other discharges should be reported online to Contact Henderson or Environmental Services at 702-267-2208.
