Hiking Series

Enjoy the great outdoors by taking a hike with the City of Henderson. Hikes vary in length and are a great way to get in shape while exploring the amazing trails in your community. Put on your favorite pair of athletic shoes, grab your water bottle, and hit the trails this fall! Please remember to dress for the weather. Youth (under 18 years) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Registration is required for these activities.


Trash Collector's Family Hike

Enjoy spending time together as a family along the St. Rose Parkway Trail. Trash bags will be provided to pick up litter along the trail.

What to wear/bring:

  • Closed-toe shoes, hat, sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Pack water and snacks

Mary Jane Falls Hike

Finish off Great Outdoors month with a hike on to Mary Jane Falls. We are headed to Mt Charleston to escape the high temperatures. Mary Jane Falls is a 3.2-mile loop and 984ft elevation gaining hike located in the Kyle Canyon area. On this hike you will take in the scenery of the ponderosa pines, aspens, and two waterfalls. Price includes round-trip transportation. Depart at 9am from DRC, arrive at Mary Jane Falls trailhead at 10am. We will hike and then have time to explore the area. We recommend packing a lunch, water, tennis shoes, hat, and sunscreen. Depart lake Mary Jane Falls trailhead at noon, Arrive at DRC at 1pm.

What to wear/bring:

  • Wear closed-toe shoes, a hat, and sunglasses
  • Pack sunscreen, 2 liters of water, and a lunch

Meteor Shower Night Hike

Experience the McCullough Hills Trail in the dark. We will meet at Anthem Hills Trailhead and take a walk on Anthem East trail to McCullough hills trail. We will spend some time on the top of the mountain looking out for meteor showers. Registration includes water and a midnight snack. Wear closed toed shoes and bring water. We will have flashlights available.

Free Skate at America First Center

Beat the heat, and get on the ice for skating at Lifeguard Arena! Skate on the same ice as your Henderson Silver Knights at the City of Henderson's FREE ice skating events at America First Center! Skaters of all ages and skill levels are welcome! Registration is open now for skates all year long, and sign-ups must be completed in advance.

You must register for these events in order to be admitted as space is limited to the first 200 people.   

Free Skate at America First Arena

Beat the heat, and get on the ice! The City of Henderson and America First Center are teaming up to offer free public skates to our community on select dates this year. Skaters of all ages and experience levels are welcome!
Registration is required in order to participate. Skate rentals are FREE.

The all-participant skates are FREE with registration. This does not include skate rentals at America First Center, however skate rentals are available for $3 or you can bring your own. You must be registered to participate.
