Have you always wanted to learn how to garden and tend to your own plants? The City of Henderson offers several opportunities for all gardeners and plant enthusiasts at Pumpkin Park, Henderson's 71st park and 1st community garden, and the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve


Summer Planting

Planting in the desert heat can be tricky. You will get an opportunity to meet Garden Farms staff and learn tips and tricks. It's recommended to wear a hat, tennis shoes, and sunscreen. Class registration is free.

Location: Pumpkin Park

*$6 per for supplies is due upon arrival. Seeds, additional gardening supplies, and plants will be for sale.

Pumpkin Garden Interest List

Do you enjoy gardening but don’t have the space? The NEW Pumpkin Park is your answer. There will be 31 planting beds available soon, on a first-come, first served basis, ranging in cost from $60–$120 per year. You will be responsible for the maintenance of the beds. However, support will be offered from our partner, Garden Farms, to help you succeed in growing your fruits and vegetables. This secure garden facility includes elevated and irrigated planting beds and a water station. Limited space is available, signing up for the waiting list is optional, and we will contact you when the garden is ready to grow!

50+ Day Trip Destinations

Day trips are planned throughout the year for a variety of activities. When registering, notify us if you require wheelchair-accessible transportation. Read each excursion description carefully; there may be items not included with registration. Unless otherwise noted, meals and shopping are at your expense and you will need to provide your own transportation to and from the senior facility. Scheduled departure and arrival times may vary due to unforeseen circumstances. To participate, you must use the provided transportation from the senior facility to the destination. 

Bellagio
Witness the Bellagio’s Conservatory after the talented horticulturists transform the display back to the Spring design. Price includes transportation only. Lunch and entertainment are at your expense.
