Summer Camps
We’re ready to provide memorable summer camp experiences for children ages 3-18. Our camps feature engaging activities, an upbeat atmosphere, and convenient hours and locations.
Initial registration forms must be completed prior to registering in any Youth Enrichment program.
Join your favorite Adaptive Recreation & Inclusion Services leaders as we explore the valley as well as fun activities at the rec center. Transportation, supervision, and supplies included. You can register for AM only, PM only or all day. Participants who choose all day may participate in repeated activities and must bring a sack lunch. Includes supervision, transportation, admissions, and supplies. Registration is limited. No class July 4. Register by June 17.

Vegas City Opera is back this summer for another amazing camp exploring all the wonderful different elements of music: sound, melody, rhythm, expression, movement, and more. Students will also participate in crafts to create their own costumes, sets, and instruments. The program will culminate in a recorded recital showcasing all your hard work. The camp staff will include Vegas City Opera and Adaptive Recreation & Inclusion Services staff. Includes supervision, equipment, and supplies. Register by July 8.

In this all-day youth aquatic camp, participants will experience a variety of supervised interactive activities. Aquatic activities will include water safety, youth lifeguarding, stroke development, water polo, and artistic swimming. Participants may also experience field trips to neighboring pools, outdoor sports, self-development, team building, and creative activities. Participants must be able to swim 25 yards unassisted, easily tread water, and be comfortable in deep water. Proper swim attire, a change of clothes, sunscreen, a towel, lunch, water bottle, and plenty of snacks are required each day. At closing, a late pickup fee of $10 per 10 minutes is applied. Early registration is recommended as spaces fill quickly.

Battle Born Kids & Teen Rec Connections is an all-day program designed to entertain and enrich youth with a variety of supervised interactive activities when school is not in session.
The program is held from 7am to 6pm. weekdays at select recreation centers. Battle Born Kids is open to youth aged 5 through age 12 and Teen Rec Connections is open to youth 12-14.
Registration
Register in advance for any week with a 10% non-refundable/non-transferable deposit per child per week.
After your deposit is made, the balance is due on or before the Wednesday prior to each week the child is scheduled to participate. Payments can be made online by 11:59pm or at any recreation center/indoor pool during regular business hours.
Drop-ins are available at Silver Springs Recreation Center and Whitney Ranch Recreation Center. Payment in full is required for each drop-in day on or before the Friday at 6:00pm prior to each week the child is scheduled to participate.

All Battle Born Kids locations offer an early-start and late pick-up option. Early arrival is $10 per child per week. Extended stay is $10 per child per week. Participants must be registered on or by the Wednesday prior to the week their child will be attending.

Parent Orientation
This day camp is full of nature, friendship, and fun. Each week has a different theme and will incorporate games, crafts, and enjoy hands-on activities all while learning about nature. Each week of day camp will feature different activities.
Our archery camp is designed to help kids gain knowledge and experience in the sport of archery. Every camper will get the experience to be the next Robin Hood. Participants will enjoy learning basic skills and having fun putting them to practice with themed specialty shoots. All archery equipment is provided.

Birds sing, hunt and soar this week as campers become honorary ornithologists (bird scientists).
Location: Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve
This state-licensed camp is specially designed for 3-5-year olds to participate in a variety of supervised activities. Each day is a new adventure involving arts and crafts, interactive games, special events, music, and story time.
The program is offered 9am-3pm with early arrival and extended stay options available. Participants must be at least 3 years old on or before the week for which they are registering, and toilet trained.

The Knight School chess camp is the perfect way to get ready for your school’s official chess team. With a fun and friendly spirit, Chess camp is a great way to keep the brain sharp over the summer while having a real blast! Chess camp is a super -fun, high energy chess experience in which kids celebrate a new chess tactic each day with silly videos, music driven puzzlers for prizes, colorful silicone Tactix Bands, funny movies, and fast paced party-bead tournament. Laughter, fast clocks, and compelling teaching approaches make this camp the summertime highlight for hundreds of kids’ nationwide. If you sign up for the all-day camp, bring a lunch.
This five-day camp will challenge students on their skills to invent and build with a larger collection of generations of K’NEX parts. These hands- on builder’s camp allows students to develop their mechanical engineering building skills as they build devices made of K’NEX parts like a mini-roller coaster, mini robot, mini machine, mini skyscrapers, mini bridge, or a creation of their imagination. If you sign up for the all-day clinic, bring a lunch.
This five-day camp will allow you to experience up to three different division types of robotic K*bots built with K’NEX parts in competition with forces and motion. You
will construct and operate your own K’NEX motorized and non-motorized division K*bots. Compete each day to place in the finals on Friday when a champion for each division is crowned. If you sign up for the all-day clinic, bring a lunch.
Looking for something unique and exciting to do this summer? Go where the action is with Teen Travels. Preteens and teens develop self-confidence and positive decision-making skills while forging new friendships. The twist on this program is that it is all field trip based. The program is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the summer, with hours varying. Space is limited to the first 20 participants per field trip. Parents must register in advance for each field trip.

Enter the other worldly experience of the Twilight Zone mini golf. In the 10,000 square foot indoor glow-in-the-dark 18-hole course. Teens will experience the 5th dimension with trivia, contests and prizes. Price includes round-trip transportation, mini golf and lunch.
Flip N Out Xtreme: July 11, 10-1pm

Teen Rec Connections follows the CCSD break calendar and is an all-day program designed to entertain and enrich teens with a variety of supervised interactive activities during summer break. The program is held from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm weekdays at select recreation centers. Teen Rec Connections is open to youth who are enrolled in middle school. Daily and weekly activities may include fitness and health, arts and crafts, drama, music, swimming, games, field trips, and special events. Early registration is recommended as space fills very quickly.
All registration is subject to space availability. Visit cityofhenderson.com/battleborn for more information. Activities include games, crafts, physical fitness, music, virtual field trips, movies, and sports. Water-related activities may take place outside. Swimming pools may be used, and swim testing is required. Lunch will be provided by our food service partner, Three Square. Snacks are not provided. Please provide a healthy lunch, snack, and water bottle for your child every day if they decide not to eat what is provided.

The Teen W.O.R.K. (Willing, optimistic, respectful, kind) junior leader program trains teens to become future recreation leaders and to provide assistance to our summer programs. Teen W.O.R.K. encourages self-confidence and develops communication and leadership skills. Responsible teens ages 14 and 15 who are willing to make the commitment to one summer session are placed based on skills, interests, availability, and location preference. All assignments provide training, the opportunity to work with children and the chance for teens to develop their leadership skills.
Locations: Teen W.O.R.K. takes place at the following Battle Born Kids sites: BMRC, HMGC, SSRC
Applications and program guidelines will be available online at cityofhenderson.com beginning February 20. Carefully read and complete all areas of the application as incomplete submissions will not be processed. You must include one letter of recommendation with your application. Ask a respected adult who is not related to you (teacher, coach, religious leader, etc.) to provide a letter of recommendation.
The registration/application deadline is March 18. Selected applicants will be contacted the week of April 8-12 to schedule an interview the week of April 15-18. Finalists are required to attend a mandatory virtual workshop prior to the start of the program, date TBD. The workshop focuses on communication, leadership skills, conflict resolution, and program policies and provides an overview of your summer experience and expectations. A scheduled phone conference with program supervisors for parents and participating teens will be provided to cover expectations for teens’ behavior and responsibilities. Payment is due after acceptance into the program.
