Henderson Police Investigate First Officer-Involved Shooting for 2022

Henderson, Nev. – (May 30, 2022) On May 30th, at approximately 7:00 a.m., the City of Henderson Police Department responded to the 100 block of Metropolitan Drive to a report of a suspicious person.

While patrol officers were enroute, the reporting person advised that the suspect was attempting to gain entry into parked vehicles.

When officers arrived on scene, they encountered the male suspect and a brief foot pursuit ensued.

The male suspect produced what appeared to be a black handgun resulting in an officer-involved shooting.

The suspect was struck by gunfire and officers immediately began life saving measures.  The suspect was transported to an area hospital where he is expected to recover from his injuries.

No officers were injured in this incident.

Preliminarily, the investigation suggests the weapon produced was a replica BB gun; however, further investigation is needed to confirm the capability of the suspected weapon.

We will provide additional information once it is made available.

As this is an open investigation, no further details will be released at this time.

This is the first officer-involved shooting for 2022.

The involved Henderson Police Officers have been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, and their names will be released after 48 hours, per department policy.
