Henderson Police Investigating DUI Resulting in Death

Henderson, Nev. - (April 20,2022) On April 19, 2022, at approximately 4:43 P.M., the City of Henderson Police and Fire Departments responded to the intersection of Sun City Anthem Drive and Volunteer Boulevard in reference to a collision involving three vehicles. 

Preliminary investigation revealed a silver 2015 Ford SUV was stopped for the red traffic signal at that intersection. In addition, a black 2014 Jeep SUV was stopped at the same intersection, in the turn lane next to the Ford. A green 1997 Ford pickup was traveling southbound on Sun City Anthem Drive approaching the same intersection when the Ford pickup collided with the Ford SUV and then into the Jeep SUV. 

Impairment was determined to be a factor in this incident.  

The driver of the Ford pickup was identified as 53-year-old Oscar Perez. 

Perez was placed into custody and transported to the Henderson Detention Center for the following charges: 

1 count DUI – Resulting In Substantial Bodily Harm
1 count Driving w/ Revoked DL 
1 count Fail to Decrease Speed

An 83-year-old female passenger from the Ford pickup was transported to Sunrise Hospital. On April 20, 2022, investigators were notified that the female had succumbed to her injuries.  

Traffic at the intersection was closed for approximately 2 hours while the investigation was conducted.

As this is still an active and open investigation, no further details will be provided at this time.

The name of the decedent will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office after next of kin notifications. 

The collision is being investigated as the sixth accident-related fatality for 2022.
