Henderson Police Investigating Homicide

Henderson, Nev. – On July 1st, at approximately 11:40 p.m., Henderson Police and Fire Departments, responded to the 10000 block of S. Maryland Parkway in reference to a caller stating that a male victim had been shot in the face, and the suspect fled the scene in a white Nissan Altima.

As this location is close proximity to the border of Las Vegas, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to assist.

Responding officers located a 32-year-old male deceased in the parking lot with an apparent gunshot wound. 

Preliminarily investigation revealed the suspect shot the victim in the face from a white Nissan Altima and fled the scene, where a short time later the suspect was apprehended by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department patrol units.  

The suspect was identified as 29-year-old John Carrillo.  It is believed Carrillo to be linked to several other violent crime incidents occurring in both Las Vegas and Henderson’s jurisdiction over the course of the past week.

LVMPD took Carrillo into custody for their prior events.  Once Carrillo is booked into the Clark County Detention Center, Carrillo will be booked for an additional charge of one (1) count Open Murder for this incident.  Please contact Clark County Detention Center for the booking photo.

The name of the decedent will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office pending notification of next of kin. 

As this is an open investigation, no further details will be released at this time.

This is being investigated as the eighth homicide for the City of Henderson for 2021.
