HENDERSON, Nev. (July 1, 2021) – The City of Henderson invites community members to celebrate Park and Recreation Month by discovering all that Henderson’s parks and recreation programs have to offer.

The Parks and Recreation Department at the City of Henderson is committed to providing residents with a variety of life-enriching classes, workshops and events throughout its 66 neighborhood and community parks, 11 aquatic facilities and eight recreation centers. Park and Recreation Month encourages everyone to reflect on the exponential value park and recreation professionals bring to communities.

Throughout July, the City of Henderson is encouraging community members to participate in 31 different park and recreation activities – one activity for each day of the month. Activities include:

• Visit a pool and receive a pass for a free return visit
• After-hour walks through the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve
• Shop for fresh produce at the Henderson Farmer’s Markets
• Enjoy one of Henderson’s 17 splash pads including a special splash pad for dogs
• Take an evening stroll through one of Henderson’s many trails

Park and Recreation Month is presented by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), a leading not-for-profit organization that includes a network of more than 60,000 park and recreation professionals and advocates who are dedicated to building strong, healthy and resilient communities through parks and recreation.

NRPA encourages people who support parks and recreation to share their park and recreation story as well as why their local park and recreation professionals are important to them by using the hashtag #OurParkAndRecStory.
